The main structure appears to be ABS with a metallic finish, while the base contains a metal plate that adds some stability. It looks nice, but it doesn't have the weight or feel of an all-metal stand. The base is stable enough for a smartphone, which is clearly what this stand is best suited for. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable using it with a larger tablet, especially in portrait orientation, because the base isn't heavy enough to inspire much confidence. Overall, it's a good, functional stand for everyday smartphone use. Just don't expect the premium feel or stability of a solid aluminum stand, particularly if you're planning to use it with heavier devices.
